I wanted to take a look at a few of the communications I\u2019ve received on this topic and in turn, look at how they have portrayed this messaging across their channels. Hopefully, this will help you to consider the role of consistency in your communications around COVID-19. Here are three examples.\r\n<h3>Example 1: Robert Walters<\/h3>\r\nRobert Walters recruiter sent this email recently from their MD. It aimed to give me some confidence in their service continuity and perhaps shared a little too much detail around how they are operating as a team at this time.\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2341\" src=\"https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/COVID-19_Update__Robert_Walters_-_Business_Continuity_-_Assuring_you_of_our_service_delivery_\u2014_Bin.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"341\" height=\"895\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/COVID-19_Update__Robert_Walters_-_Business_Continuity_-_Assuring_you_of_our_service_delivery_\u2014_Bin.png 341w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/COVID-19_Update__Robert_Walters_-_Business_Continuity_-_Assuring_you_of_our_service_delivery_\u2014_Bin-57x150.png 57w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/COVID-19_Update__Robert_Walters_-_Business_Continuity_-_Assuring_you_of_our_service_delivery_\u2014_Bin-305x800.png 305w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/COVID-19_Update__Robert_Walters_-_Business_Continuity_-_Assuring_you_of_our_service_delivery_\u2014_Bin-229x600.png 229w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/COVID-19_Update__Robert_Walters_-_Business_Continuity_-_Assuring_you_of_our_service_delivery_\u2014_Bin-114x300.png 114w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\" \/>\r\n\r\nWhen I visited the Robert Walters website, I can see consistency with their message \u2013 which they have communicated through a pop-up. (I\u2019m not a massive fan of the implementation of this message, but at least it\u2019s front and centre).\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2342 size-square-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Robert_Walters_-_Global_Specialist_Professional_Recruitment-600x365.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Robert_Walters_-_Global_Specialist_Professional_Recruitment-600x365.png 600w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Robert_Walters_-_Global_Specialist_Professional_Recruitment-150x91.png 150w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Robert_Walters_-_Global_Specialist_Professional_Recruitment-1316x800.png 1316w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Robert_Walters_-_Global_Specialist_Professional_Recruitment-987x600.png 987w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Robert_Walters_-_Global_Specialist_Professional_Recruitment-300x182.png 300w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Robert_Walters_-_Global_Specialist_Professional_Recruitment.png 1467w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>\r\n\r\nFor the purpose of this post, I'm also checking social messaging, specifically on their Facebook page. In this instance, I couldn't find an update on their social media sharing this messaging at the time of writing.\r\n<h3>Example 2: Wilson Parking<\/h3>\r\nI have to admit I\u2019ve definitely had a laugh with my husband about receiving emails from car parks at this time as they aren\u2019t top of mind when you\u2019re staying at home.\r\n\r\nHere\u2019s one of the emails I received from Wilson Parking assuring me that they are open and demonstrating more flexible rates at this time.\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2347\" src=\"https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Wilson.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"307\" height=\"791\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Wilson.png 307w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Wilson-58x150.png 58w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Wilson-233x600.png 233w, https:\/\/www.interactiveminds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Wilson-116x300.png 116w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 307px) 100vw, 307px\" \/>\r\n\r\nTheir email is literally almost too long to show here, even in a screengrab. It definitely had more information that I needed (or cared about). My preference is for shorter, sharper communications, with a call to action to more information if you need more space.\r\n\r\nWhen I visited their website, I could find no mention of these special conditions or offers at all. Overall there is room for improvement in two of the three examples in communicating more consistently about changes that will impact their customers as a result of COVID-19. I caution companies from sending whole-of-database emails at this time and rather email comms should be segmented to include only those who are directly impacted or whom are likely to care.\u00a0 If you are a company who has had to make changes at this time, make sure you are representing it on your website and social media so people who are looking for details can easily find them.
